The Human Rights Watch Film Festival returns to London from 24 March – 1 April with a programme packed full of documentaries and dramas set to inspire, inform and trigger debate. This year, in association with the Festival, we are delighted to present the UK premiere of The Green Wave.

Interweaving animated blogs and tweets with mobile phone footage and interviews, Ali Samadi Ahadi’s documentary charts the widespread hope of political change in Iran during the 2009 elections – and the subsequent brutal suppression of the mass protests against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s re-election. It is a remarkable portrait of modern political rebellion, an exposé of government-sanctioned violence, and a vision of hope. Ali Samadi Ahadi will be present for a Q&A for the Sunday and Monday night screenings of his film.
