United for Iran is an independent nonprofit based in Berkeley, California working for civil liberties in Iran. We achieve our mission by improving human rights conditions, increasing the capacity of civil society, and engaging citizens through technology.
In 2014 we began developing mobile phone apps to enhance civic engagement and government transparency in Iran. In late 2015, we launched IranCubator, a two-year contest-focused project that leverages and builds the capacity of both civil society and developers. We are supporting the creation of mobile phone apps that directly empower Iranian citizens to connect, organize, share, and disseminate critical civil society information. Apps might range from documenting and reporting domestic abuse, to sharing information about wheelchair accessible locations in various cities, to games that teach about best water conservation practices.
We are looking for a few motivated and capable people to work with us in our new incubator. Please submit your resume and cover sheet to info@united4iran.org by October 30.
