Behrouz Ghobadi, the brother of exiled Iranian filmmaker Bahman Ghobadi, was arrested in Iran on November 4 and is being held in secret by Iran’s Intelligence Ministry. He has been denied basic rights under international human rights laws, including contact with his family and access to a lawyer. Behrouz has chronic health conditions that require medication, which his family fears he is being denied. His brother, Bahman is an outspoken critic of the Iranian regime, and has made several films critiquing government repression. Behrouz has assisted on several films, but recently moved to Iraq where he runs a small store and had his first child. The arrest of Behrouz is believed to be due to the Iranian government’s practice of targeting family members of activists and artists. Click here to sign and send a letter to Iranian authorities urging them to immediately release of Behrouz or to otherwise clarify his crimes and file formal charges.
