Washington, D.C. (19 July, 2012) Three U.S. senators submitted a letter to President Barack Obama today calling for the investigation and designation of 65 Iranian officials as human rights abusers, all of whom are currently designated as such by the European Union. Senators Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.), Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), and Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) issued the letter stating, “We strongly believe the United States should lead on the issue of human rights in Iran. That is why we are concerned that, as of today, the United States has yet to officially designate 65 Iranian human rights abusers already listed by the European Union.” To read the full statement, click here.
