Say Hello to RadiTo: IranCubator’s 1st App

Dear U4I Community,

When we launched IranCubator last year we knew –– well, we hoped –– we could help ignite Iran’s social good technology sector. We have just launched IranCubator’s first app: RadiTo.

RadiTo is an audio network for Android phones. It gives artists, journalists, and commentators a censorship-free platform for audiobooks, radio programs and news.

‌‌The app allows you to use inexpensive home internet to download audio files to your smartphone and listen to them wherever you go. RadiTo has gone through rigorous security checks to ensure the security of its users. Like all IranCubator apps, RadiTo is free and open-source.

It was important to us that RadiTo, which means radio YOU, reflect the diversity of Iranian people. RadiTo is the first Iranian app available in 5 different languages spoken by the people of Iran: Kurdish, Azari, Persian, Balouchi, and Arabic. Major Persian media outlets including BBC Persian, Radio Farda, and Radio Zamaneh have agreed to share their content with RadiTo users. Download RadioTo today.

We aimed for the first IranCubator app to reflect the concerns of Iranian people. Freedom of speech and freedom of information are two civil liberties most often violated by the Iranian government; and many brave Iranian activists and citizens are currently behind bars for expressing their thoughts and beliefs.

Download RadioTo today. Listen and let us know what you think. We hope that RadiTo, inspired by its name, will make it possible for all Iranians to listen and speak freely.

In solidarity,

Firuzeh Mahmoudi
