A source close to political prisoner Saeed Nourmohammadi told the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran that despite immense physical and psychological pressure on Nourmohammadi over the past few months, his family have been asked to raise bail for his release and he may be released soon. Saeed Nourmohammadi who was a youth campaigner for Mir Hossein Mousavi, was arrested shortly after the Iranian elections on June 15, 2009. He was released after 62 days in solitary confinement, but was arrested again during a group prayer ceremony at Shahab Tababaee, another post-elections prisoner’s home along with tens of other participants. In his last meeting with his brother, he told him “they mistreat me a lot.” His brother said that his hand was bandaged during their meeting and this supports the notion that his abuse in the prison has increased. Saeed Nourmohammadi’s brother, Massoud Nourmohammadi, was arrested after he shared information about his brother and there is no news about him. His brother was not a political activist and his arrest has only taken place in order to put pressure on Saeed Nourmohammadi. The two brothers’ father is deceased and their arrests have caused serious problems for their family.
