Originally Published 7/19/2009 We have created a website with the name “http://portlandstandswithiran.org” and printed green signs so people can display that slogan in their cars, homes and favorite stores. Today we were at a table in one of the local farmer’s market, tomorrow we will be the “green section” in Portland’s “Sunday Parkway,” which is a mass bicycle ride. On July 25 we will rally in Pioneer Square, which is Portland’s “living room.” We will make a special effort to include Palestinian and Latin American solidarity groups because of some of the misconceptions that exist about the green movement in a section of these communities and among the governments of for example Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba. We are already well connected with the local peace movement, which we worked with before in order to prevent US military intervention in Iran.
