OFCU Report Details Ongoing Human Rights Violations against Students

A second report published by the Office for Consolidating Unity, a leading independent Iranian student union, has detailed ongoing human rights violations against Iranian students over the last nine months. The report submitted to the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, Ahmed Shaheed, details cases of repression, expulsion, and student imprisonment since September 2011. The report notes 164 cases of violations, which include among others, 49 cases of arrests, 23 cases of deprivation of education, 21 cases of convictions by the judiciary, and various forms pressure inflicted on imprisoned students and student-run organizations.
