Free the Mourning Mothers and Account for their Grievances 
(9 January 2010) Security forces attacked and detained 30 members of Mourning Mothers in Laleh Park and surrounding streets in Tehran today at around 4 p.m. local time, the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran reported. Mourning Mothers is a group of mothers whose children have been killed in recent events. More than a hundred police and plain clothes agents attacked today’s gathering and transferred the detainees to the Vozara Detention Center in Tehran.“No culture permits such violence to be unleashed against mothers. How can this government, which claims to have moral and religious authority, treat mothers who have lost their children in such a way? The Iranian officials should know that the activities of Mourning Mothers will not stop until their legitimate grievances are properly addressed,” said Hadi Ghaemi, the Campaign’s spokesperson. An eyewitness, in an exclusive interview with the Campaign, described today’s event as the following: “I was in Laleh Park today around 4 p.m. More than a hundred police and plain clothes agents had occupied the park and its perimeter. They would not allow anyone to even sit on the benches or congregate. Every Saturday, the Mourning Mothers and their supporters gather in the Park. Today after about 70 mothers had entered the park, security forces engaged them and started chasing them, grabbing them, and forcing them into police vans. They used a lot of violence and insults in the process. One of the mothers who is 75 years old has been taken to a hospital.” After the killing of Neda Agha Soltan and Sohrab Aarabi by government forces during the summer protests, Mourning Mothers was formed by women whose children have been killed recently and their supporters. Many civil society activists as well as mothers whose children had been executed in previous years, as well as mothers whose children have been arbitrarily detained or disappeared at the hands of the security and intelligence forces have joined the group. The group’s principle demand is for the authorities to be accountable for the deaths, disappearances, and detentions of their children. The eyewitness told the Campaign that: “After the detentions of the Mothers, their families and other members of the group went to the Vozara Detention Center and forced the officials there to confirm and provide them the names of the detainees. The officials announced 30 names to them. Tomorrow, family members and their supporters will go back to demand their release from the judge in charge. The Campaign called on the judicial authorities to immediately and unconditionally release all the detainees and to identify and prosecute all of the agents responsible for the attack and detention of the Mourning Mothers.
بازداشت 30 نفر از مادران عزادارو حامیان آنها

19 دیماه 1388- کمپین بین المللی حقوق بشر در ایران در خبری فوری اعلام کرد که امروز غروب 30 نفر از مادران عزادار و حامیان آنها در پارک لاله و خیابان های اطراف آن در حمله ای با حضور بیش از 100 نفر از نیروهای انتظامی و لباس شخصی بازداشت و به بازداشتگاه وزرا منتقل شدند.
هادی قائمی؛ سخنگوی کمپین بین المللی حقوق بشر در ایران گفت:” در هیچ فرهنگی چنین برخوردی با مادران پذیرفتنی نیست چه برسد توسط مدعیان اخلاق با مادرانی که فرزندانشان را به ناحق از دست داده اند. جمهوری اسلامی ایران باید بداند که پدیده مادران عزاردار و حامیان آنها جز با پاسخگویی مناسب به خواسته های آنها به سامان نخواهد رسید.”
یک شاهد عینی چگونگی بازداشت مادران عزادار و حامیان آنها را چنین به کمپین بین المللی حقوق بشر در ایران شرح داد : “امروز حدود ساعت 4 بعداظهر در پارک لاله بودم. بیش از100نفر از نیروی انتظامی و لباس شخصی در پارک و خیابان های اطراف مستقر بودند.. نمی گذاشتند که کسی روی نیمکت ها بشیند و یا مانع جمع شدن مادران می شدند. هر هفته شنبه مادران عزادار و حامیان آنها بین ساعت 5 تا 6 بعدازظهر در پارک دور هم جمع می شوند. حدود 70 نفر از مادران در پارک بودند که نیروهای امنیتی شروع کردند دنبال مادرها کردند و آنها را به خارج از پارک منتقل کردند. تعدادی فرار کردند و تعدادی را هم که 30 نفر می شدند، بازداشت کردند و به زور سوار ون های انتظامی کردند و مادران موقع سوار شدن به ون مورد آزار و اذیت قرار گرفتند. یکی از مادران که 75 سال سن دارد به بیمارستان منتقل شده است.”
مادران عزادار و حامیان آنها پس از مرگ ندا آقا سلطان و سهراب اعرابی در خرداد ما 1388 توسط مادرانی که فرزندان خود را از دست داده بودند، یا فرزندانشان ناپدید شده بودن،د تشکیل شد. بسیاری از فعالان مدنی و حقوق زن و بویژه مادرانی که در سال های گذشته با پدیده اعدام فرزندان و یا ناپدید شدن آنها مواجه شده بودند، و مادرانی که فرزندانشان به ناحق در بازداشت هستند، به این مادران عزادار پیوستند. خواسته عمده مادران عزادار پاسخگویی مقامات در برابر کشته شدن، ناپدید شدن، و یا زندانی بودن به ناحق فرزندانشان است.
مادران عزادار و حامیان آنها از خرداد ماه تصمیم گرفته اند که هر هفته شنبه در ساعت مشخصی با لباس مشکی تجمع کنند حتی با سکوت، تا به خواسته های آنها توجه شود. اما همواره تجمع آنها با حملات نیروهای امنیتی شکسته شده و بسیاری از آنها بازداشت شده اند.
این شاهد عینی در مورد وضعیت بازداشت شدگان در پارک لاله و خیابان های اطراف آن به کمپین گفت که ” پس از بازداشت مادران عزادار و حامیان آنها، خانواده ها و بقیه مادران به بازداشتگاه وزرا رفتند و ماموران را مجبور کردند تا اسامی بازداشت شدگان را اعلام کنند. ماموران هم اسامی 30 نفر را اعلام کردند. فردا صبح همه مادران و خانواده های بازداشت شدگان به بازداشتگاه وزرا می روند تا آزادی دوستانشان را از قاضی بخواهند.”
کمپین بین المللی حقوق بشر در ایران با تاکید بر تامین فوری خواسته های مادران عزادار، خواستار آزادی فوری بازداشت شدگان بدون هیچ قید وشرطی شد و از مقامات خواست که آمران و عاملان حمله و بازداشت مادران عزادار را شناسایی و محاکمه کنند.
