Learn How To

  • Analyze and interpret the coverage of events (ie on Iran)
  • Grab the media’s attention
  • Present your message to the media
  • Write letters to the editors / Op Eds
  • Learn about our role outside of Iran

This event consists of the following programs:

  1. 30 minute discussion panel
  2. Media Training by Andrea Buffa with Omid Memarian, Alireza Eshraghi, Cyrus Farivar, and Malihe Razazan
  3. Q&A with the above-referenced journalists (expected to finish by 9PM)

What do you do if and when you want the media’s attention? How do you make the most our of the exposure you do get with the media in interviews and answering tough questions? Without effective media communication skills, your message will be lost, ignored, or even manipulated. Nationally renowned activist, Andrea Buffa, will be providing an interactive media training to help Iranian Americans gain mainstream and independent media access and support for our issues. This training itself is not politically charged. Even if you are not publicly outspoken and active on issues, this training is a must have for  everyone in under-represented communities. This event is sponsored by the Bay Area Coalition for Human Rights in Iran. Co-sponsors include: Omid Advocates for Human Rights, BAIAD, baivoter, ISAA, ISCO, NorCal4Iran, Berkeley Lecture Series, United4Iran, and Iranican.com
