We never close our Twitter browser for a reason. Information comes quickly, new friends are easy to make, and as we’re starting to see more, these networks are proving to be key to passing on the ever infectious freedom bug. Today we received a tweet from the Venezuelan Students Movement (@Studentsvzla) with a link to a letter written by the President of the Central University of Venezuela‘s Federación de Centros Universitarios in support of the Students of Iran. We were so inspired and touched — and want so badly for the Students of Iran to see this — we had to get in touch with the leaders of Venezuela’s Students Movement and thank them. Central University of Venezuela, Caracas, Venezuela, January 7, 2010 Iranian students: This New Year will be the year of the young liberators, openers of a new cycle of life in the world for the welfare of all citizens, and the routing of our way of doing politics in our spaces. It will be the consolidation of a movement that has been characterized by being a faithful servant of the principles of university autonomy and the Constitution of the Republic. It will be the year where we will gather the fruits of the fight we have begun and we will show to those who try to silence the voices of the future, we will continue breaking paradigms due to our way of being, people and their messages, for our actions and footprints left behind. As the strength, commitment and conviction mark our footsteps, the youth can rest easily because we will have hope in the near future, because the fate of our nations have been irrevocably fixed to hope, for people who love their freedom finally succeed in obtaining it. Students, who have not been shaken by the violent passions of revenge, corruption and greed, like those now in power, are permitted under all laws of equity and history to raise our voices in the name of the motherland and its people. We have been and will always be proud of our glorious Universities, which have profound impact over the population and the future of our Countries. Fellow fighters for freedom! Many greetings and wishes of infinite joy, strength and courage from the distance, from Venezuela, so that in this New Year, this new opportunity, we can return with clear consciences to continue fighting for men and women without ruined accounts with historical justice, to assume the leading role. “The Rock” The distracted tripped over it. The violent used it as a projectile. The entrepreneur built with it. The farmer, tired, used it to rest. Drummond poeticized. David slew Goliath. Michelangelo created beautiful sculptures! In all cases the difference was not in stone but in man. The year 2010 is the same for all, but it depends on what we do with it. Happy 2010!! Let’s keep fighting for the dream of freedom and democracy, continue raising our voices fearlessly towards a victory that is coming and not surrender, because in our hands are the destinies of the future of our country! نامه حمایت دانشجویان نزوئلا به دانشجویان ایران
فدراسیون دانشگاه مرکزی ونزوئلا با بیش از 60 هزار دانشجو، نامه ای به مناسبت سال نو میلادی برای دانشجویان ایرانی منتشر کرد. در این نامه فلسفی – شاعرانه، مبارزات جوانان دانشجوی ایرانی ستایش شده و درودهای گرم از راه دور بر دانشجویان ایرانی فرستاده شده است، با این امید که در سال جدید میلادی، دانشجویان، میوه های مبارزاتی خود را بچینند و به جهانی برای سعادت انسان ها دست یابند.

دانشجویان ایرانی:
سال نو میلادی امسال، سال آزادیخواهان جوان، گشایندگان چرخه نوین هستی در جهانی برای سعادت همه شهروندان و به پیش بردن سیاست در همه جای جهان به شیوه ای است که ما می خواهیم.
سال جدید، تثبیت جنبشی است که ویژگی آن پایبندی مستخدمین به اصول استقلال دانشگاه و قانون اساسی جمهوری است .سال جدید سالی است که در آن ما میوه مبارزاتی را که آغاز کرده ایم، خواهیم چید، و این را به آنانی که تلاش می کنند صدای آینده را خاموش کنند، نشان خواهیم داد. ما بخاطر حق زیستن به روش خودمان، بخاطر مردم و پیام هایشان، و برای کارهایی که کرده ایم و آنچه که پشت سر گذاشته ایم، به شکستن کلیشه های ذهنی ادامه خواهیم داد.
با اقتدار، تعهد و اعتقاد راسخی که گام های ما را اثربخش می کند، جوانان قطعا تکیه گاهند؛ چرا که ما به آینده نزدیک امید داریم، چرا که سرنوشت همه ملل ما بطور اجتناب ناپذیری با امید گره خورده ، چرا که مردمی که عاشقانه آزادیشان را طلب می کنند، سرانجام آن را با موفقیت به چنگ می آورند.
ما دانشجویانی که از شهوت خشونت بار انتقام، فسا د و حرص و ولع همانند آنان که در قدرتند، نمی لرزیم، طبق همه قوانین برابری و تاریخ ،حق داریم صدایمان را به نام سرزمین مادری مان و مردم آن بلند کنیم.
ما همواره به شکوه دانشگاه هایمان افتخار کرده و خواهیم کرد چرا که بر مردم و آینده کشورهایمان اثر عمیق دارند.
رفقای مبارز آزادیخواه! درودهای فراوان و امیدهای بیکران مسرت بخش، مقتدرانه و شهامت بار، از این فاصله دور؛ از ونزوئلا، نثار شما باد! با این امید که در این سال جدید، در این فرصت دوباره، بدون اینکه پاسخگویی در برابر عدالت تاریخی را به تباهی بکشانیم، آگاهانه به مبارزه خود برای مردان و زنان ادامه دهیم تا بتوانند نقش رهبری خود را به پیش ببرند.
“سنگ ها”
انسان حواس پرت پایش به سنگ گیر کرد و افتاد. فرد خشن آن را پرتاب کرد، بنا با آن بنا ساخت. کشاورز خسته سر بر آن نهاد و استراحت کرد. دروموند آن را به شعر تبدیل کرد. داود در جنگ با طالوت از آن استفاده کرد. میکل آنژ از آن مجسمه ای زیبا ساخت. همه تفاوت ها نه در سنگ ها که در انسان هایی بود که از آن استفاده کردند.
سال 2010 میلادی برای همه ما یکسان است اما تفاوت در آن است که ما با آن چه می کنیم.

بیایید برای رویای آزادی و دموکراسی به مبارزه مان ادامه دهیم، صدایمان را بی هیچ هراسی برای پیروزی بلند نگهداریم و تسلیم نشویم، چرا که پیروزی در راه است و تقدیر آینده کشورهای ما در دستان ماست.

The letter led to several very encouraging tweets from one of the leaders of the Venezuelan Students Movement, and followed by an email just as telling as the letter above.
I am a Student Leader from Venezuela and currently President of the Student Government of Law School in Caracas, Venezuela. You can’t imagine how much impact what has happened in Iran over us as students. We have over 5 years fighting against the Chavez Regime and many of my fellow students have been jailed and abused by the forces of the state.

Venezuela has been living through ten tough years under the government of the President Hugo Chavez Frias. After the events that occured in 2002, the Venezuelan oposition was basicaly silent to all the atrocities the government committed against democracy and freedom in the country. That was until 2007, with the closure of the countries oldes TV station and one of the biggest oponents to the Chavez Regime, RCTV, the Venezuelan Student movement resurged and begun its fight for freedom and democracy.
From that instance on, the Movement has become a beacon inside the Venezuelan society of democracy ad a diferent country in the future. This blog will be the way the international community can learn about the venezuelan student movement and its actions and activities for democracy in our country.
In 2007, thousands of demonstrators poured into the streets, many of them students with signs reading “S.O.S. Freedom of Expression in Venezuela” Police responded by firing into a crowd of an estimated 5,000 demonstrators from a raised high-way, before many fled and later regrouped chanting “freedom!” Protests continued through 2007 as an effort to reform the constitution and eliminate presidential term limits sparked further unhappiness.
