Advancing Hope Through Technology
As we write this, we are in the midst of a global pandemic unlike any we’ve faced for generations. It is a time of great uncertainty, and we can only hope that governments, medical establishments, and citizens around the world can work closely and swiftly together to protect human life.
Iran has been particularly impacted by this virus, and this comes on the heels of what has already been a very painful time in recent history, with the November 2018 protests, the subsequent crackdown, and the crash of Flight 752. Our mission at United for Iran has always been to support the people of Iran in whatever challenges they are facing as a society. And in this time of extreme adversity, our work to meet them where they are at continues. In late February, we launched IranCubator 2.0, a new round of our global tech incubator for social good apps and tools. So much has happened since we launched and it feels more critical than ever to innovate and create solutions in service of Iranian civil society. Our original deadline for applications was April 15, but given the circumstances surrounding the pandemic, we want to give applicants more time and have extended the deadline to June 1. If you’re a techie, an activist, or simply someone with an innovative social good idea, you can be part of those solutions by submitting an application to be considered for IranCubator 2.0. If your idea is chosen, we will provide seed funding and support to help bring it to life. Even in times of fear and uncertainty, the people of Iran always seem to hold on to hope—let’s work together to help them keep that hope alive. Check out this video to learn more about IranCubator 2.0. We are putting out the call for 3 different kinds of applicants for this unique project:
