(Updated 02/16/12) The Case of Saeed Malekpour

In October, we posted about 35-year-old Saeed Malekpour, a permanent resident of Canada and web-developer who has been sentenced to death by the IRI. Since being detained in October 2008 for a case of “internet offenses,” he has endured forced confessions and torture, while being denied any and all legal recourse. The Case of Saeed Malekpour: Web Developer Jailed Since 2008 (Updated 2/16/12)

Saeed Malekpour is a 35-year-old prisoner of conscience who was imprisoned in October of 2008 while visiting his terminally ill father in Iran, for case of relating to “internet offenses.” The charges brought against Saeed include “Taking action against national security by designing and moderating adult content websites;” “Agitation against the regime;” “Contact with foreign entities;” “Insulting the sanctity of Islam;” and “Insulting the Supreme Leader and President.” He could be charged as “Corrupter of the Earth” (Mofsed fel-Arz), a charge that is punishable by the death sentence. Saeed continues to deny these vague allegations.

Take action! Send a letter for Saeed Malekpour, who was detained in October 2008 and sentenced to death in December 2010 without having had regular access to a lawyer or the resources with which to defend himself. He was arrested after returning to Iran to see his terminally ill father on the false allegation of “developing an adult website.” Never has any proof been presented that Mr. Malekpour is associated in anyway with the website.
