CNN: Firuzeh Mahmoudi Addresses the Threat of Internet Shutdowns and the Urgency to Keep the Internet Open (video)

Originally streamed on CNN on September 29, 2022.

“The second we hear the word “internet shutdown” our hearts drop. Because we know exactly what is going to happen. They want to do this behind closed doors. They will start arresting people and killing and the numbers are going to go up. The last time we had protests of this size, 1,500 people were killed. They will do this on the streets and in prison. Add us, on the outside, the number one things we can do, in addition to being their voice and talking about this and not forgetting, is advocating with anyone we can, governments, tech companies, as concerned citizens and as prominent individuals, to keep the internet open.”
